Billboard financing leases often have three big drawbacks:
(1) You don’t know how much the lease costs. I once had a leasing company tell me “why would I tell my customers how much the lease costs? It will make it harder to get deals.”
(2) A prepayment penalty of 20-30% of the loan amount hidden in a sum of all future payments or yield maintenance clause.
(3) A 5-7 year term which puts too much pressure on your cashflow.
